The Cambridge Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit works all year to service the community by enforcing the rules of the road. Our goal is to reduce the number and severity of crashes in the city. Many of the current enforcement programs are a direct response to community complaints regarding speeding and other violations. The Department also spends time educating the public when there are any infrastructure changes, like new bike lanes or traffic patterns. We are committed to fostering greater traffic safety for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

Celebrate National Moth Week in style! Step 1: Drop by the Collins Branch to make a moth mask with guidance and costume advice from Cambridge Wildlife Arts. Step 2: Debut your mask on the red carpet at the second annual Cambridge Moth Ball on Wednesday, July 23 from 7:30-10 p.m at the Fresh Pond Reservation's Kingsley Park. Learn all about moths and their role in the ecosystem, participate in "mothing," and take photographs of moths. Costumes encouraged for children & adults!

Cambridge Main Library celebrates pride with the Grumpytime Club! The Grumpytime Club’s original music for children and their caregivers is creative, positive, thoughtful, beautifully crafted, and catchy as cake! Led by award-winning singer songwriter Carrie Ferguson, the Grumpytime Club creates live shows that are often jubilant sing-along dance parties, highlighting themes of inclusivity, social justice, Earth stewardship and LGBTQ youth/family JOY! Party in the Curious George Room with families of all ages, and join CPL in showing your pride!

Harvard Book Store, the Harvard University Division of Science, the Harvard Library, and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Shahir S. Rizk—Associate Professor of Biochemistry at Indiana University South Bend and the Indiana University School of Medicine—and Maggie M. Fink—Adjunct Professor at Indiana University South Bend and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Notre Dame—for a discussion of their new book The Color of North: The Molecular Language of Proteins and the Future of Life. Families with elementary school-age children join us for hands-on activities focused on Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering and Math. Adults and children will learn and play together! In December, Science Heroes will present "Adventure of the Missing Color!" Through hands-on experiments and fun, interactive stories, kids will get excited about the science that’s all around us as we celebrate the scientists who color our world with art! Featuring amazing experiments all about: chemical reactions laws of motion air pressure and more!

Celebrate reading with fellow new readers at the Valente Branch Library! We will explore a book from the Beginning Reader collection, spend time reading together, and do an activity! Copies of the book will be provided via the library; participants may check out a copy to take home after the program. This is open to students in kindergarten through second grade who are practicing reading independently; their grown-ups are welcome to join us. Registration is required.
