Join us for an afternoon of great poetry and music, featuring a quintet of acclaimed poets: Robert Carr - winner of the 2024 Rane Arroyo chapbook prize and author of three full length collections; Patrick Donnelly - program director of The Frost Place; Matt Donovan - Director, The Boutelle-Day Poetry Center at Smith College; Richard Michelson - former Poet Laureate, Northampton, MA & recipient of a National Jewish Book Award; Dzvinia Orlowsky - award-winning poet & translator and a founding editor of Four Way Books; plus music by tenor saxophonist Jay Hoffman. Take a fun and enlightening journey through Boston Red Sox history with Marty Gitlin, the author of the Ultimate Boston Red Sox Time Machine Book. This presentation features exciting and nostalgic videos of the greatest and most fascinating players, teams, events and moments in franchise history. It covers Sox history from the Royal Rooters, who launched Red Sox Nation, to Babe Ruth to Ted Williams to The Impossible Dream Season of 1967 to Lynn, Rice and '75 to the heartbreak of 1986 all the way to the four World Series championships and beyond. There will be trivia questions and Q&A.

What happens when AI becomes a friend, a tutor, a therapist, a co-worker? Come find out in this hands-on workshop led by Joint Family in collaboration with the Cambridge Public Library. Test the limitations and capabilities of popular Generative AI tools and how they’re quietly reshaping the way we connect with technology and each other. We'll explore the support gaps they're filling, where we need to draw boundaries and why real world human connections matter more than ever. No prior experience with Generative AI necessary. Caregivers and educators are encouraged to attend. Open to ages 18 and up.

With temperatures expected to rise into the 90s this week, the City of Cambridge is excited to welcome the return of waterplay season! Waterplay features at many neighborhood parks and playgrounds are now open for the summer and offer a fun, free way for kids to cool off and stay active. Children of all ages can splash, spray, and play in a variety of water features—like splash pads, sprinklers, and spouts—available seven days a week at select locations.  Note: Waterplay features at school playgrounds will be turned on after the school year ends, beginning June 26.

Join Revolution 250, Boston Celebrations, Hobby Knolls Stables & the Henry Knox Artillery as wells as citizens of the towns of Weston, Waltham, Watertown, and Cambridge for a commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the epic 1776 adventure of Henry Knox and his "Noble Train of Artillery" trekking across Massachusetts on their way to Boston. The commemoration at 2:00 p.m. follows a procession from the Cambridge Common at 1:00 p.m. that will travel to Joan Lorentz park led by the Sudbury Ancient Fyfe & Drum Corps and finishing with teams of Clydesdales pulling replica sleds and cannons which began their journey in upstate New York.

The Baker-Polito Administration today announced a tool that gives residents a new way to access their COVID-19 digital vaccine card and vaccination history. The new tool, called My Vax Records, allows people who received their vaccination in Massachusetts to access their own vaccination history and generate a COVID-19 digital vaccine card, which would contain similar vaccination information to a paper CDC card. The COVID-19 digital vaccine cards produced by the system utilize the SMART Health Card platform and generate a QR code that can be used to verify vaccination. The Administration is not requiring residents to show proof of vaccination to enter any venue, but this tool will help residents who would like to access and produce a digital copy of their record.

Curious about “forest bathing” (spoiler alert: no water required) and "rewilding" yourself? Come once or join every workshop in this 6-part series to explore the concept of "Shinrin-yoku" (“forest bathing”) which is the practice of being mindful and contemplative within nature, using all your senses. The experiential portion of the workshops will focus on our senses one at a time, workshop-by-workshop, through simple mindfulness exercises, gentle guided nature imagery, and other grounding activities that promote relaxation and (re-)connection with ourselves and with nature. No level of physical ability or prior experience with meditation or mindfulness is necessary — just an openness to relax and explore a new way of calming and connecting. Questions?
