In this class, Cambridge Public Library staff will teach you how to look for books, films, and other resources available in the catalog. We will review how to perform basic and advanced searches, learn how to log in to your account with your library card, and better understand all of the formats and locations available in the catalog. Attendees should be comfortable using the computer and navigating the Internet independently, but no prior knowledge of the catalog is needed. Registration is required.

For four decades, Johnisha Matthews Levi believed a conventional story about her birth, picturing her happy parents at the hospital together. While sorting through her late mother's belongings, however, she discovered a document indicating that her father was instead serving time in Lorton Correctional Complex. This revelation, along with rumors about an FBI investigation of her deceased parents' "private business," leads Levi to unearth the hidden history of her family. She ties this story to public policy, demonstrating how state lottery legalization and the War on Drugs disrupted the Black institutions and communities in Washington, DC. Registration is required.

Take a fun and enlightening journey through Boston Red Sox history with Marty Gitlin, the author of the Ultimate Boston Red Sox Time Machine Book. This presentation features exciting and nostalgic videos of the greatest and most fascinating players, teams, events and moments in franchise history. It covers Sox history from the Royal Rooters, who launched Red Sox Nation, to Babe Ruth to Ted Williams to The Impossible Dream Season of 1967 to Lynn, Rice and '75 to the heartbreak of 1986 all the way to the four World Series championships and beyond. There will be trivia questions and Q&A.

Join us for a morning walk at one of the most renowned birdwatching spots in Cambridge, Mount Auburn Cemetery! We will help you identify birds, learn birdwatching tips and tricks, and familiarize yourself with migratory birds as well as those that can be spotted all year round. A limited supply of binoculars will be available. UPDATE: With the May 28th reopening of the Collins Branch Library, this walk will now meet in the courtyard of the Collins Branch at 64 Aberdeen Ave. Welcome back! Registration is required. This event can only accommodate a certain number of participants. One registration is good for one person. If you do not register, you cannot participate. Due to the popularity of Sifu Diaz's classes, we expect participants to attend all sessions and participation in this program will be decided by lottery. Join us in this eleven-week Tai Chi Paradigm practice, which focuses on the mind and body connection. Tai Chi is a fluid sequence of movements choreographed in a low impact routine. This is an in-person event at the Valente Branch. To enter the lottery, please register for the waitlist below. This waitlist will constitute the pool from which 15 names will be drawn randomly.
