The Commission on Immigrant Rights & Citizenship (CIRC) works to welcome, inform, connect, and support Cambridge’s immigrant community. CIRC staff provides information, referrals, and guidance to residents seeking assistance. The Commission collaborates with other city departments, community partners, and individuals that support immigrant rights and citizenship.

The Cambridge Human Rights Commission (CHRC) is dedicated to upholding and safeguarding the fundamental human rights of residents and visitors to the City of Cambridge. CHRC works to eradicate discrimination through an investigative process, proactive community outreach, and collaborations with City and community partners. CHRC aims to create an environment where people of diverse backgrounds can live without fear of discrimination based on the following protected classes: race; color; sex; age; religious creed; disability; national origin or ancestry; sexual orientation; gender identity or gender expression; marital status; family status; military status; and source of income.   

CHRC, which was established in 1984, is dedicated to upholding and safeguarding the fundamental human rights of residents and visitors to the city. This project will: Add separated bike lanes on Cambridge Street between Inman Square and Second Street, meeting the requirements of the City of Cambridge’s Cycling Safety Ordinance to build a network of separated bike lanes throughout the City; Make changes to the street to improve safety for all users, including for people walking, biking, taking transit, and driving; Construct new bus stops, with boarding platforms that extend further into the street, reducing bus delay and improving the experience of using and waiting for the bus.

The Baker-Polito Administration announced two new mass vaccination sites will open in Natick and Dartmouth. On Thursday, 74,000 appointments will be posted online for mass vaccination sites and pharmacies at locations statewide. The administration also announced that individuals who accompany someone age 75 or older to get a vaccine at a mass vaccination site may also schedule and receive their own vaccination on the same day.

The City of Cambridge Community Benefits Advisory Committee is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for $10,000 grants for up to 100 eligible 501c3 nonprofit organizations.

Due to a calculation error, the Cambridge case counts reported for April 12 reflected an over count. The Cambridge Public Health Department has since reconciled the discrepancy in positive case counts among Cambridge residents (in non-institutional settings) and newly reported cases in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.
