Beginning Monday, September 25, every U.S. household can place an order to receive four free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to their home by mail. To order tests, visit covidtests.gov. Cambridge residents can also pick up free rapid tests from the Cambridge Public Health Department at 119 Windsor Street while supplies last.

Did you know that Cambridge students have the opportunity to learn robotics beginning in 3rd grade? This is made possible through a sustained partnership between the Cambridge STEAM Initiative and Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) - and the effort to expand robotics opportunities for elementary school children began with the Cambridge community. Cambridge Public Health Department will soon be offering flu and COVID-19 vaccines, as available, for all eligible residents. Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine with rare exceptions. Vaccination is recommended for all who are eligible because it can reduce flu illnesses, visits to doctors’ offices, and missed work and school due to flu. It can also make symptoms less severe and reduce flu-related hospitalizations and deaths. A flu vaccine is particularly important for people who are at higher risk of serious complications from influenza.

The Cambridge STEAM Initiative is a joint effort of the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Schools, and the Cambridge Public Library. We work with our local K-12 schools and universities, community organizations, City departments, employers, and residents to open doors to opportunities and career pathways in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Our goal is to make sure these opportunities are within reach for everyone — especially those who have faced the biggest barriers.

We’re seeking Cambridge families with children ages 4-8 to pilot Math! Everywhere!, an exciting new math app that encourages your child to explore interactive math tasks - right in your neighborhood. The app, created by local organization MathTalk, supports the goals of the Early Childhood Math Group facilitated by the Cambridge STEAM Initiative.

Science Club for Girls (SCFG) is partnering with the Cambridge STEAM Initiative to learn more about the long-term impact that their programming has had on girls and gender-expansive youth.
