The Cambridge STEAM Initiative envisions a day when Cambridge residents most impacted by systemic inequities have access to high quality STEAM programming, resources, and skill-building opportunities that will provide a pathway towards social and economic mobility.

Alpacas from the Harvard Alpaca Ranch will be visiting the library for an educational program and meet and greet. Join us to learn more about alpacas and take some time to say hello! This event is intended for school-age children. No registration required. This event will be held outside, with a rain date of Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Cambridge Public Library.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Susan Choi—author of the National Book Award-winning novel Trust Exercise—for a discussion of her new book Flashlight, a novel tracing a father’s disappearance across time, nations, and memory. This workshop covers the following topics: Rules of the road Bike-specific laws and legislation Car-specific laws and legislation General safety tips Routing ideas for new riders Real traffic scenarios and common crash situations

This terrain model is useful as a visual reference for the terrain surface as it relates to buildings, roads and sidewalks. It can be used as a setting and an initial condition for detailed design studies.
