To Build Stronger, Closer Neighborhoods, Cambridge Makes It Easier To Host Block Parties
It is now easier and cheaper to host block parties in Cambridge. The City is eliminating the block party permit fee, providing free party games, and offering $200 cash awards (limited supply) to support celebrations.
Block party potlucks and games bring neighbors together for fun, but the parties also help build more connected, resilient neighborhoods.
Hiring Events
The Office of Workforce Development hosts job fairs and hiring events multiple times a year. The events encourage Cambridge residents to build their networks, meet local employers, and apply to job opportunities.
Cambridge Cycling Safety Ordinance
The City’s Cycling Safety Ordinance calls for the City to build out a 25-mile network of separated bike lanes in the next five years. Separated bike lanes, which generally include space and vertical dividers that create a physical distance between bicycles and motor vehicles, improve safety and create a more comfortable environment.
Aggressive City Goals
The City has set aggressive goals and implemented a series of actions in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to a) prevent climate change from worsening b) and address the inevitable impacts of climate change that we are already experiencing in order to improve the health and resilience of the community.
