Cambridge Police Department Members Recognized by US Attorney’s Office for Outstanding Collaboration
Cambridge Police Detective Lester Sullivan, Detective Matthew Grassi, Lieutenant Thomas Ahern (Ret.), and Forensic Identification Specialist Brooke Miller received the Outstanding Collaboration Award at the 2024 Law Enforcement Award Ceremony in Boston. Each year, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts hosts a ceremony to recognize outstanding public service by the agents, officers, and community leaders with whom they work alongside.

Our Path Forward Lecture: Rachel Slade, author of Making It in America (Main/Virtual)
Join the Cambridge Public Library in welcoming Rachel Slade, author of Making It in America: The Almost Impossible Quest to Manufacture in the U.S.A. (And How It Got That Way)—as well as the national bestseller, Into the Raging Sea—for the latest installment of the Our Path Forward Lecture Series. Slade's book, which follows a young couple in Maine trying to kickstart a lost industry, was named a Publishers Weekly "Top 10 Pick in Business and Economics." Cosmopolitan called Making It in America an "enlightening look at the history of manufacturing in America and how we got to where we are today." After the lecture, Slade will sit in conversation with Janelle Nanos, a business enterprise reporter at The Boston Globe and a finalist for a 2023 Pulitzer Prize, after which she will answer questions from the audience. Registration is required.
Volunteer Attorneys Needed
The Cambridge Commission on Immigrant Rights & Citizenship (CIRC), in collaboration with De Novo Center for Justice and Healing, provides a free monthly Virtual Immigration Legal Screening Clinic.
City Dance Party is Back Friday, June 23, 6-10 p.m. Note Mass Ave will be closed from Prospect Street to Lee Street.
The dance extravaganza with DJ spun music is a special opportunity for the entire Cambridge community to celebrate the start of summer. After dark, colorful lights will be launched, adding to the magic of the evening. New this year, the Cambridge Play Streets initiative and Central Square Business Improvement District will be providing free interactive activities for families at the corner of Temple Street and Mass Ave.
Roadway Paving of Various Locations
Beginning November 1st, weather permitting, the City’s contractor, E J Paving, will begin performing partial roadway milling and grinding. Paving will begin the week of November 6th.

Scam Alert from the Cambridge Police Department
The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) would like to alert the community of a phone scam that involves someone calling the public impersonating Cambridge Police. The caller claims they are a Cambridge Police Captain, which is not a rank at CPD, and advises the person on the phone they missed jury duty and could go to jail if they don’t pay a large sum of money.
