Cambridge Historical Commission Meeting

The Cambridge community is invited to join Cambridge Little League and Scout members in the decoration of veterans’ graves with flags on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m., at Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue.

DVS Director Cynthia Harris will emcee the observance event to commemorate the lives of our military members along with Cambridge Mayor E. Denise Simmons, Vice Mayor Marc McGovern, and City Councilor Ayesha M. Wilson, Co-Chair of the Human Services and Veterans Committee.

Fun Skate, an annual program offered by Recreation and Cambridge Public Schools, provides weekly skating lessons to Cambridge public elementary school students. This year, Fun Skate expects to serve close to 800 children through a program expansion that includes weekly visits to 2nd grade classrooms as part of Physical Education curriculum.

The Community Learning Center’s Bridge to College Program prepares students to take college level classes. Participants earn college credits and attend a weekly advising class that helps them prepare to apply.

Board of Zoning Appeal Meeting

Conservation district designation recognizes a distinctive physical environment that reflects the architectural, cultural, political, economic, or social history of the city. Designation encourages the conservation and maintenance of these areas so that the city may be a more attractive and desirable place in which to live and work.

The Cambridge Housing Authority provides long-term rental housing and rental assistance. More than 10,000 low-income families, elders, and disabled individuals receive this assistance.

The City of Cambridge is seeking to fill vacancies on the Cambridge Conservation Commission and Commission on the Status of Women. Applications for both Commissions are due on January 9.
