Summer Reading: Community Celebration and Community Build (O'Neill)

The following description is for the program that will be on Saturday:
Join friends at the O'Neill Branch to build, build, BUILD your idea of a neighborhood and a community! Let your imagination run wild with LEGOs, Magna-Tiles and other building toys.
We will also have books about neighborhoods and a collaborative art project about our community.
For children ages 5 and up. Children under age 7 must be accompanied by a caregiver. LEGO pieces are choking hazards for young children.
CPL Nature Club: Rethinking Urban Nature Workshop with Earthwise Aware (Main) (RESCHEDULED)
Join Earthwise Aware for a thought-provoking workshop examining how land use and climate change influence the design, function, and future of urban green spaces. Starting at the library’s front lawn, we will explore how conventional designs can undermine biodiversity and tree health. What makes a space truly nature-friendly? Can a lawn, sidewalk, or plaza be transformed into habitat?
We will compare low-functioning green spaces with examples of micro-forests, native plantings, and meadows. Along the way, we will observe seasonal changes in plants and wildlife through the lens of phenology, the study of nature’s calendar. We will also introduce simple participatory science tools that help monitor habitat quality, foster community engagement, and inform better decisions.
Even a modest native plant patch can be a pocket of resilience. Come learn how to spot, support, and reimagine urban nature that works with the ecosystem, not just mimics it.
The program will start with a workshop in the Rossi Room, then move outside to Joan Lorentz Park. Registration required.
Sing-Along Musical Fun with Steve Blunt (O'Connell)
Performer Steve Blunt sings & plays a variety of musical instruments on a lively mix of original songs and family standards—also drawing on multicultural traditions and New England history & folklore. Steve has performed at hundreds of libraries throughout the region over the last three decades.
Summer Reading: BioDesign with the Rhode Island Computer Museum (Main)
Delve into the wonders of the natural world. Attendees will learn about different types of animal homes and use them to inspire their own creation. Recommended for ages 8-13. This program can accommodate 12 people. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. The entire party must be present to receive a ticket. This program starts promptly. Unclaimed seats will be offered to someone waiting. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please call 617-349-4038 for more information.

Summer Reading Horror Book Group (Central Square)
Join Central Square's new Horror Book Club. We're exploring horror in all forms -- classic horror, queer horror, ghost stories, and more! For our July meeting, we're reading The Bog Wife by Kay Chronister. Copies are available for pickup at the branch.
