Join us on Thursday July 16th at 6:30pm to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of the launch of the CARE (Community Assistance Response and Engagement)Team! We will be screening Beyond The Call, a powerful documentary highlighting how the City of Cambridge created and implemented the CARE Team, a community-centered alternative response program designed to support people experiencing mental health and behavioral health crises. This documentary will offer an inside look at the challenges, breakthroughs, and real-life impact of building a public safety model rooted in care instead of criminalization. There will be food, swag, and an opportunity to connect directly with those doing the work!

Join us for a game of chess at the O'Neill Branch! Players of all skill levels and all ages are welcome to participate. Chess sets will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. This is a space for individuals to play and test their skills against other members of the community. This is not an instructional class. Instructions and supplies will be provided for an afternoon activity. Learn to fold paper airplanes inspired by flying dinosaurs. We'll follow complex instructions and share flying tips to make these Jurassic models. Recommended for ages 6-12 with a caregiver.

Join us at the O'Connell Branch and learn how to make a flower arrangement! Participants will leave with their very own bouquet. No registration required. Appropriate for all ages, although young children should be accompanied by an adult. Materials will be provided while supplies last.

Join us for a special screening of Annihilation starring Natalie Portman and based on Jeff VanderMeer's novel of the same name. Popcorn and movie candy provided! Our horror book club will be reading and discussing this novel for our July 9th meeting for those interested in reading and discussing the novel before watching the film.

Calling all bakers for a pie potluck! Make a pie and come bring it to share with others. Share recipes and samples of everyone's favorite fall snack. Various baking and pie cookbooks are available for pickup at the Branch.

Join local artist, musician and educator Ben Cunningham for a transformative storytelling performance. The Story Terrarium is not your average storytelling experience—it's an educational, interactive adventure. This program is for children of all ages and their caregivers. No tickets needed. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Cambridge Public Library.
