Learn how to restore biodiversity and help slow climate change — while creating a beautiful garden! Join Amy Meltzer as we discuss the following: The current biodiversity crisis The shared evolutionary history among native birds, insects and plants How your support of those relationships are necessary for the species' survival How your garden can support biodiversity How you can help our Cambridge public plantings thrive This is a hybrid event. In January this book group will meet both in person at the Collins Branch and on Zoom in a hybrid format. Please register in advance. People of all ages who enjoy children's books can read and discuss together. Food will be provided. This month we will be reading and discussing Pocket Bear by Katherine Applegate. Please pick up a copy of the book beforehand at the O'Neill Branch Library (prior to January 5) or at the Boudreau or Collins Branch Libraries. You can also request a copy to be sent to another location, or read a digital version of the book by going to our catalog.

Experience the joy of Hip Hop Xpression with Jarell Howard Rochelle in this fun, high-energy program for kids and teens. Participants will learn simple choreography, explore freestyle movement, and be introduced to authentic hip hop terminology and culture. This interactive class emphasizes connection, creativity, and self-expression, while celebrating the spirit of hip-hop. No prior dance experience is needed — just come ready to move, laugh, and have fun together. Families and youth of all ages are welcome. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
