Join Maria Lawton, Cookbook Author, TV host/Executive Producer, Speaker, Storyteller & Culinary Travel Guide for a presentation on Portuguese Cooking. Maria is the creator and host of the multi-award-winning PBS series Maria’s Portuguese Table, and the author of two beloved cookbooks: Azorean Cooking: From My Family Table to Yours and At My Portuguese Table, winner of the Bronze IPPY Award. Born in São Miguel Azores, Portugal and raised in the U.S., Maria has dedicated her career to preserving and sharing the rich culinary and cultural traditions of Portugal. With her signature warmth and heartfelt storytelling, she brings recipes to life—not just as food, but as vessels of memory, love, and heritage. She is now working on her next book “Baking with Love”, her first children’s cookbook, Maria returns to the kitchen of her childhood, recreating the sweet recipes she made side-by-side with her grandmother. Decorate a handheld paper fan using the simple, meditative basics of Chigiri-e (“chee-gee-ree-eh”), a traditional Japanese art form where the name literally means "torn picture." There will also be a mini-mural station for families to decorate collaboratively to celebrate wrapping up this year's Summer Reading program. An assortment of colorful papers as well as markers, book-themed stickers and other decorations will be provided. Space is limited and registration is required. There will be two identical back-to-back 60 minute sessions (from 2-3 and again from 3-4). Please sign up for only one session.

Join master musician Shaw Pong Liu in an interactive, educational and bilingual (English and Mandarin) music program welcoming the Year of the Horse. Shaw Pong will play her Western violin and her Chinese erhu, play music about horses, and invite a group sing-along. This program is recommended for children ages 5 and up and their caregivers.

Cambridge Public Library celebrates Pride with Carrie Ferguson! Carrie plays original whimsical songs with the assistance of their players to bring a rocking live show to the people, bringing messages of acceptance and identity in a fun and jubilant way. Party in the Curious George Room with families of all ages, and join CPL in showing your pride!

Families with elementary school age children join us for hands-on activities focused on Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering, and Math. Adults and children will learn and play together! This month we will learn about pollinators with Cambridge Wildlife Arts. We will plant seeds and make bumblebee puppets! This program is a part of the CPL Nature Club.
