The City of Cambridge has officially launched its local Massachusetts 250 campaign, a City and statewide initiative to celebrate 250 years of America’s independence and Massachusetts’ revolutionary legacy. Throughout 2025 and 2026, the City of Cambridge plans to showcase stories that highlight historic themes of revolution and independence through a series of engaging events.

Come join the Cambridge Police Department and other community partners to celebrate National Night Out at Donnelly Field. The event is free and open to all. There will be numerous activities including games, slides, races, an introduction to lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, obstacle course, face painting, dunk tank, food & more. CAMBRIDGE – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Pauline Wells have announced that Rayquon Brown, 29 of Canton, has been arrested and charged with murder, carrying a firearm without a license, being an armed career criminal, and conspiring to commit murder. On July 4, 2026, at approximately 5:24 AM, the Cambridge Police Department received a call from pedestrians who, while out on a walk, found a man, later identified as Xavier Bautista, lying in a pool of blood in the area of Norfolk Street and Broadway Street. Rayquon Brown was arraigned today at Cambridge District Court and ordered held without bail. The next date in this case is Friday, July 17, 2026. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Cambridge Police Department at (617) 349-3300. 16-28 Porter Street is a 12,920 square foot vacant lot located in the Wellington-Harrington neighborhood, a location surrounded by many amenities such as Twin city Plaza, Gold Star Mothers Park, and the Lechmere MBTA station. It was acquired by the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) in April 2026 with financial support from the Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust (CAHT). The site is expected to be developed under the provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay.
