This Month's Read: The West Passage by Jared Pechaček Reading Interests: The group concentrates on science fiction and fantasy. An advanced reading schedule is published each summer. Example selections include: Neuromancer by William Gibson and The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. Requirements: A love of speculative fiction and a desire to talk about books. The group is friendly and informal. How to get the print book: Copies of the print book are set aside at the Main Library Question and Answer desk on the ground floor. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during service hours and a staff member can help you check out a copy. E-books and digital audiobooks are available on Libby or Hoopla. Teen Takeover Block Party
Hosted by the Cambridge Youth Council, this event will bring the community together to celebrate the creativity, leadership, and entrepreneurship of young people in Cambridge.
Beech At Elm Pop-Up
The City of Cambridge plans to redesign Beech Street near the intersection at Elm Street. The project will shorten pedestrian crossings and simplify the intersection by creating a T-shaped layout. To make these improvements possible, about six resident permit parking spaces on Beech Street near the bend will be removed.

Baker-Polito Administration to Lift COVID Restrictions May 29, State to Meet Vaccination Goal by Beginning of June
The Baker-Polito Administration announced that the Commonwealth is on track to meet the goal of vaccinating 4.1 million residents by the first week of June and all remaining COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted effective May 29. The Commonwealth’s face covering order will also be rescinded on May 29.
Winter Warming Center
The Winter Warming Center, open December 1 through April 30 for the 2025-2026 season, provides a safe and welcoming space at night for adults experiencing homelessness. The nightly maximum capacity at the Warming Center is 35 individuals.
Net Zero Action Plan
The “Getting to Net Zero” Task Force will advise the City Manager on ways to advance the goal of putting Cambridge on the trajectory towards becoming a “net zero community”, with focus on carbon emissions from building operations.
MBTA Red Line Closures
The MBTA’s Track Improvement Program aims to eliminate all speed restrictions on the Red Line and to bring the tracks to a state of good repair. Work on the Red Line will result in closures, and the City of Cambridge will update this page whenever a new closure is expected.

At the Open House the draft Bike Network Plan will be shared, along with additional information about input made over the past couple of months.
