The Baker-Polito Administration set a goal of vaccinating approximately four million people in the Commonwealth. According to the CDC’s vaccine data, 3.9 million people in Massachusetts have been fully or partially vaccinated as of today. Another 180,000 people are scheduled to get their first dose in the next 7 days.

The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) launched its "Fall on the Fields," a series of free, outdoor experiences for Cambridge JK-8th graders, from September 21-October 30, from 3-6 p.m. on weekdays, at Danehy Park, Rindge, Hoyt, Donnelly, and Sennott Fields.

The City of Cambridge and Divco West, developer of NorthPoint, will be undertaking construction on Gore Street between Monsignor O’Brien Highway and Warren Street. This construction is an opportunity to incorporate improvements into Gore Street; sidewalks, crosswalks, street trees improved access to the park, etc.

Learn about the trees in the park by making leaf and bark rubbings! Feel free to gather your own ahead of time, but some leaves will be provided. The craft will be followed by a story time. Recommended for ages 5 and up with a caregiver.

In anticipation of Valeria Luiselli's visit to Cambridge Public Library on September 24 (learn more here), we will gather to discuss Luiselli's new novel Beginning Middle End at this month's meeting. The City of Cambridge was recently awarded $100,000 from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council’s (MAPC) Accelerating Climate Resilience program to commission artists to design temporary shade pavilions for city parks. Shade structures in parks and plazas help residents stay cool on hot days and create social spaces

The City has set aggressive goals and implemented a series of actions in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to a) prevent climate change from worsening b) and address the inevitable impacts of climate change that we are already experiencing in order to improve the health and resilience of the community.
