Join the Cambridge Public Health Department's Cambridge Healthy Smiles Program to learn more about your dental concerns as a senior: Receive advice on changes to your brushing routine as you advance in age; Hear a review of how oral health affects your overall health; Pick up oral health resource sheets for dental care along with a free toothbrush kit. Please enter the gym through Door 8 on Haskell St. Put on your dancing shoes for an unforgettable workshop of hula hoop magic with Kat Suwalski! You will learn basic hooping moves while increasing hand-eye coordination, strength, balance, and agility. No prior hooping experience is required. Hoops are provided. Recommended for children ages 5 and up and their caregivers. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Cambridge Public Library.

The Arthropod Petting Zoo is a hands-on, show-and-tell introduction to entomology featuring real live insects and arthropods! While having fun and interacting with genuine crawling critters, kids learn about biology, taxonomy, adaptations, and scientific thinking that real scientists use in the field. Recommended for ages 3-12 and their families. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Join us for the Fourth Annual Spelling Bee Finals. The Bee aims to enhance the spelling and vocabulary skills of contestants while promoting reading, writing, and appreciation for the power of words. Community members are invited to attend the finals to provide support and cheer on contestants.

Learn to fix your broken household items, such as electronics, appliances, clothing, and toys etc. at the Fixit Clinic. Volunteer Fixit coaches will review, take apart, and assist in repair attempts. Gain the confidence and knowledge to make repairs and teach others to do the same. This event takes place in The Hive, located on L1 of the Main Library. Open to all ages, registration is required. Each month the group will discuss a book on the topic at hand then hear about a related local program or initiative and how you can take action. Topic: Farming for the Future Book: We are Eating the Earth: The Race to Fix Our Food System and Save Our Climate by Michael Grunwald Registration is encouraged, but not required. Wherever Cambridge residents go throughout Meet Your Neighbor Month in September, they'll find opportunities to connect, learn and share stories. The 2026 theme, Stories We Share: The Courage to Connect, inspired by Welcoming America's Welcoming Week, reminds us that meaningful connections often begin by listening to and learning from one another. Join us after Evening Family Story Time to ask questions about library services, strengthen connections with the community and be part of a citywide effort that celebrates what makes Cambridge such a welcoming place.
