The Affordable Housing Trust will hold its monthly meeting in-person and via Zoom webinar. This class will be delivered by a DOORS program instructor. Celebrate the end of summer and get ready to go back to school with us at this drop-in craft hour! Make and color a paper camera and some snapshots to illustrate all your best summer memories to share with your school-friends. All materials are provided. Recommended for children ages 5 - 8. Registration is not required for this event.

Choose a "Paint by Sticker" design and match the numbered stickers to the numbered spaces, then watch your artwork come alive. Recommended for children ages 6-12 and their caregivers.

Art urges us to look more closely at the world around us, and at ourselves. In this generative writing workshop, facilitated by Heather Nelson, participants will choose an image with which to “converse”: each writer will be given prompts and questions in order to interact with their image and, after having this dialogue with the art, writers will work to edit and arrange their observations into a working draft of an ekphrastic poem. There will be a little time at the end of the session for sharing drafts and discussing next steps. Registration is required.

Celebrate National Poetry Month by creating your own poetry at the O'Connell Branch Library! Try writing a haiku, a limerick, or an acrostic! All supplies will be provided. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Join us to craft homemade gifts this holiday season. Learn to make one-of-a-kind beads from recycled strips of paper. Once the beads are constructed, thread them into a piece of jewelry for yourself or someone else. Recommended for children ages 6-12 with a caregiver. Tuesday, December 9: Paper Bead Jewelry Monday, December 15: Tissue Paper Flowers Please note: latecomers arriving after 4:30 p.m. may not have time to complete this project.

Join us for a demonstration of capoeira, a unique Afro-Brazilian art form combining martial arts, dance, music and acrobatics. Following the performance, children will have the opportunity to learn basic capoeira movements. Recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers.
