Join us for a lively discussion of a great book in person at the Main Library! Snacks will be provided. For ages 7-9 and a parent or caregiver. This month's book is Lowriders in Space by Cathy Camper. Lupe Impala, El Chavo Flapjack, and Elirio Malaria love working with cars. You name it, they can fix it. The stars align when a contest for the best car around offers a prize of a trunkful of cash—just what the team needs to open their own shop! What will it take to transform a junker into the best car in the universe? Copies of this month's book are available at the Children's Desk. Both caregiver and child should read the book before the discussion to participate. Registration is required — only one registration is needed per family. Charlie’s boring summer gets a lot more interesting when he sees a mysterious woman who gives him a desperate message (in American Sign Language) and then disappears. Luckily, local girl detective Francine (Frog) has been looking for her next case, and ASL is her first language. They’ll have to work together to decipher clues and find ways to communicate and solve the mystery before it’s too late! Copies of this month's book are available at the Children's Desk. Spend your lunchtime with us for a midday party and an American Sign Language (ASL) class rolled into one! Please feel free to bring your lunch with you to the class. Light snacks will be provided! SIGNING Basics hosts this event which teaches students various ASL signs through fun games and activities for beginners or intermediate learners that have more advanced skills. Signing Rocks! events are conducted in ASL with experienced instructors. Sign language interpreting is not provided; you will learn the vocabulary as you go throughout the class. This program is great for adults, teens, and families with kids ages 7+.

We'll cover the basics: how to use Canva's simple drag-and-drop tools, and how to find free templates, graphics, photos, and fonts. No design experience needed, just bring your curiosity! This class is a part of the AARP curriculum. Join the Collins Branch Library in collaboration with the Cambridge Climate Leaders Initiative for a monthly discussion of a climate-related topic. Each month the group will discuss a book on the topic at hand then hear about a related local program or initiative and how you can take action.
