The City of Cambridge is canceling all City-sponsored Halloween events and will not be issuing street closure, block party, or park permits this year for community events in order to help prevent large groups from congregating in close proximity.

The Capital Building Projects Department was established in FY24, consolidating existing programs from the Executive Office and Public Works Department in order to continue to deliver high-quality professional management of the City’s expanding building improvement project portfolio.

The MBTA plans to close parts of the Red Line in Cambridge in February in order to make track improvements, inspect tunnels, and make other upgrades. Free shuttles will replace regular train service on parts of the Red Line.

The City of Cambridge is excited to once again invite community members to vote on projects aimed at improving the city as part of the 10th Participatory Budgeting (PB) process. In 2009, the City set a goal to reduce residential trash disposal by 30% by 2020, and by 80% by 2050. With that goal in mind, the City expanded curbside food waste pickup to all buildings with 1 to 12 units. 25,000 households (8,100 buildings) are now eligible to participate.

Due to high demand at the November 10 vaccination clinic, and in order to ensure those who received their first dose can receive their second dose on December 1, walk-in COVID-19 vaccine and flu shots will not be available at the December 1 clinic.
