The Hastings Room Reading Series and the Cambridge Public Library are excited to welcome two award-winning poets to the Library for a poetry reading. Denise Duhamel and Martha Collins will both read from recent works. The reading will take place in the Main Library's Community Room at 7 p.m. on May 1, 2025.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Jamie Loftus—comedian, Emmy-nominated TV writer, and podcaster—to celebrate the paperback release of her New York Times bestseller Raw Dog: The Naked Truth About Hot Dogs. She will be joined in conversation by Tori Bedford—Associate Producer for Boston Public Radio. Registration is required.

Children and families are invited to meet Jasmine Warga, award-winning and best-selling author of many popular middle-grade novels, including Massachusetts Children's Book Award winner A Rover’s Story and Newbery Honor winner Other Words for Home. Warga will talk about her work, answer questions from the audience and sign books. Porter Square Books will have books available for sale. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Registration is not required. About the Lecture The annual lecture is an initiative sponsored by the Cambridge Public Library, the Curious George Fund, and the Cambridge Public Library Foundation. The series aims to bring the community together to celebrate outstanding and engaging books for young readers. The LGBTQ+ Youth Celebration will be a fun and joyful event for all ages, families, and adults! Drag Queen Aurora will share their journey into drag and facilitate a discussion of queer experience and community celebration. There will also be a runway and folks are welcome to bring costumes or choose from our costume box. There will be snacks, music, and books about LGBTQ+ history!

Co-sponsored by the Cambridge Public Library and the Cambridge Public Library Foundation, the Boston Globe columnist, Barbara Wallraff will speak about her career and column on language, “May I have a word?”. She has had a long career in journalism, primarily as a copy editor, starting at Boston Phoenix then at the Atlantic and today as a columnist at the Globe.
