The City of Cambridge today announced that all City-sponsored community events, athletic events, events permitted for the use of City parks, or other City-sponsored public gatherings will be cancelled through September 7, 2020, or postponed to a later date. The City Manager’s Office is collaborating with the City’s COVID-19 Expert Advisory Panel, the Commissioner of Public Health, and the Cambridge Public Health Department to evaluate and determine what Halloween activities will be allowed in the City. Further guidance on Halloween activities in the City to be announced the week of October 12.

As new cases in Cambridge ticked upward, public health and city officials were especially concerned about COVID-19 transmission in skilled nursing and long-term care facilities, given that older adults are at greater risk from disease and death due to COVID-19. The Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) seized an opportunity to provide early intervention and support.

The City of Cambridge has teamed up with the Cambridge Mask Alliance, a coalition of 12 local nonprofits led by Cambridge Volunteer Clearinghouse (CVC), to make face masks accessible to those most in need.
