The City’s Contractor, Indus, will conduct roadway preservation work on Wednesday, September 20. A truck will be spraying the roadway with a plant-based solution called Fog Seal. The solution goes down as a white, almost opaque spray, but once dry, it leaves a transparent “seal” over the pavement.

How to make the city more prepared for and resilient to the impacts of climate change

This week's selection: Harriet Jacobs, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Reading Interests: We concentrate on Great Books in the following areas: a long novel over the summer, two sections of poetry and short stories, a book of the Bible, a Shakespeare play, an ancient and modern drama, a work of science, a smaller work of fiction, an even smaller work of fiction, and a rotating mix of politics, philosophy, and religion. Authors read in the past five years include Dickens, Keats and Yeats, O'Connor and Munro, Ecclesiastes, Sophocles and August Wilson, Darwin, Austen, Duras, The Federalist Papers, and Arendt. How to get the print book: Copies of the reading are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during current service hours and a staff member can help you get a copy. The Climate Committee is a volunteer group of community members who work together to provide feedback and ideas to the City on topics related to climate change. It was formerly known as the Climate Protection Action Committee. The Climate Committee works to help the City reduce climate change impacts, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase equity, and serve as a partner to and example for other communities.

The City of Cambridge will offer the Cambridge Small Business Coaching Program to established Cambridge small services and/or retailers who are eligible based on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG/HUD) criteria.

Dumpster Licenses are required in the City of Cambridge and are issued by the Inspectional Services Department.

Due to the significant drought conditions currently affecting the state, hydrants will NOT be “flow tested” this year.

The City administration and City Council continue to recognize the importance of minimizing increases in water and sewer rates.
