Cambridge is committed to designing our city to help people to get around without driving, with an emphasis on pedestrian friendly intersections, bicycle lanes, traffic calming, and public transit.

Affordable rental units are found throughout the City in properties owned by the Cambridge Housing Authority, non-profit housing providers, and private owners of affordable and mixed-income rental housing.

The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of a street closure and traffic impacts Saturday, November 22 for the Margaret Fuller House Annual Turkey Distribution Event.

Housing affordability promotes stability for our residents and allows for building the social, economic, and cultural bonds that strengthen a community. In FY22, the City appropriated more than $32 million to the Affordable Housing Trust, bringing the total of City funds committed to the Trust to more than $278 million (FY92-FY22) to invest in affordable housing initiatives.

The City of Cambridge will be hosting two final public meetings for the latest updated draft to the city’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. Both meetings will occur on Wednesday, October 25.

The City of Cambridge’s Inspectional Services Department offers free exterior rodent control services through its Private Property Rodent Control Program. Since launching in 2021, the program has helped over 900 qualified residential properties by providing professional inspections, treatments, and follow-up visits. Residents also receive education on effective rodent prevention techniques. The City encourages community-wide participation, as sanitation and shared responsibility are essential to keeping neighborhoods rodent-free.
