The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) is committed to providing the highest level of professional police service while respecting the constitutional rights of every person living in or visiting the City of Cambridge.

The City of Cambridge launched the 7th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB7) in 2020. In September, community members submitted ideas for how to spend $500,000 on one-time capital projects to improve Cambridge.

Pockets of unique trees, densely planted at select locations throughout the city, will beautify, educate, and help combat climate change. Approximately 50 trees will be planted with educational signage, bringing the forest into Cambridge.

Put on your best royal outfit and join us for a special afternoon! Listen to a story, decorate a crown and dance to some royal music! This program is for children of all ages and their grown-ups. The City is developing plans to renovate Russell Field and the adjacent practice field area. Plans include the resurfacing of both playing fields and site amenities to improve the functionality of the facility.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, the City of Cambridge kicked off National Small Business Week by hosting the Cambridge Legacy Business Luncheon. This event celebrates some of the oldest businesses in Cambridge.

The Inclusion Initiative, part of the Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP), works with parents, caregivers and City staff to support children with disabilities enrolled in DHSP Out-of-School Time programs.

Cambridge Public Art Commission guides the implementation of the Public Art Ordinance and the Art Gifts and Donation Policy, and to advise on the overall direction of the City of Cambridge’s Public Art Program.

The Cambridge Police Department is enhancing its ongoing traffic safety education and enforcement by participating in a Pedestrian/Bicyclist Safety Campaign in November. The state grant funds we secured will help add additional staffing resources throughout the city to promote additional safety. CPD works all year to educate and enforce traffic safety as we receive community feedback and input from other city agencies on potential issues. We also focus on areas where there have been traffic pattern changes.

The City of Cambridge and MBTA have been working together to develop a maintenance improvement project to address the issues on the Russell Field Path which is owned and maintained by the MBTA.
