The City of Cambridge launched the 9th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB9) in 2022. Between June and July, community members submitted 1,320 ideas for how to spend $1 million on one-time capital projects to improve Cambridge. From August through November, volunteer PB Delegates researched all submitted project ideas and developed the final proposals for the PB9 vote.

The Affordable Housing Trust will hold a special meeting in-person and via Zoom webinar. This meeting will be held on February 11th at 4 p.m. at Cambridge City Hall Annex, 2nd Floor Conference Room. The City of Cambridge hired a consultant to study the transit routing, circulation, and access for MBTA routes (1, CT1, 47, 64, 70, 70A, 83, and 91) around Central Square. The purpose of the study was to develop recommendations for reducing crowding for people waiting for the bus and to improve access to and circulation around Central Square.

People and pets should avoid contact with Alewife Brook and parts of the Mystic River due to the release of stormwater mixed with sewage into the river. The release of mixed stormwater and sewage—known as a “combined sewer overflow (CSO)”—is needed to prevent contaminated water from backing up into homes, businesses, and city streets.
