Affordable housing has been a longstanding priority of the City Council and City Manager, reflected in the City’s significant investments and ongoing strategies to preserve and create affordable housing.

This initiative is designed to support residents’ digital needs and will be funded by the Mass Broadband Institute and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in partnership with the MassHire Metro North Workforce Investment Board.

In this newsletter, readers will learn more about how Cambridge is making affordable housing one of its highest priorities, the ongoing challenges associated with today’s housing market, how policy, zoning, and programming have played important factors in making Cambridge more accessible for new and long-time residents, and where new development is taking place around the city. Overall, in FY24, the City is dedicating more than $60 million from a variety of sources to address affordable housing and homelessness. The fiscal year 2023 resulted in a number of key accomplishments.

Curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste will be suspended on the holiday and will be one day behind for the remainder of the week. There will be no street cleaning on the Patriots Day holiday. Streets that would normally be cleaned on April 17 will instead be cleaned on April 12.

This in-person event will highlight the numerous services and programs offered in Cambridge that address a range of housing needs.

Curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste will not be affected and will remain on its regular schedule for this holiday. Regularly scheduled street cleaning routes for Friday, November 10 will be cleaned on Monday, October 30.
