Join us for a demonstration of capoeira, a unique Afro-Brazilian art form combining martial arts, dance, music and acrobatics. Following the performance, children will have the opportunity to learn basic capoeira movements. Recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. Install outdoor chess tables in parks, city squares, and near libraries. This project will encourage community interaction through chess, checkers, and other board games! This project will ensure that residents can borrow chess sets from public libraries.

Add amenities like water fountains, waste bag dispensers, and more dog-friendly environments to two dog parks around the city-- offering a safe area for dogs and their owners to play and interact with other dogs.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Hetty Lui McKinnon—James Beard Award-winning food writer and cook—for a discussion of her new cookbook Linger: Salads, Sweets and Stories to Savor. She will be joined in conversation by Irene Li—founder of Mei Mei Dumpling Company in South Boston and author of the cookbook Perfectly Good Food. Registration is required.

The annual Cambridge Arts Open Studios will take place all across Cambridge on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22, 2024, from noon to 6 p.m. each day. The citywide event celebrates all the creativity that is Cambridge. Shop for paintings, prints, clothing, ceramics, and all sorts of locally-made creations when you visit artists' studios and in group exhibitions in Common Venues throughout the city.
