City of Cambridge to Lift Remaining COVID-19 Restrictions
The City of Cambridge announced that, with the Commonwealth's State of Emergency ending on June 15, 2021, and the significant improvements in public health metrics, it will align with the Commonwealth in lifting the City’s ​remaining COVID-19 restrictions on Saturday, May 29, 2021 and will rescind its March 19, 2020 Declaration of Public Health Emergency in Cambridge effective June 15, 2021. Due to the rescission of the ​City’s Declaration of Public Health ​Emergency, the City’s Temporary Eviction Moratorium as amended on July 23, 2020 will also be rescinded, effective June 15, 2021.
Cambridge City Manager Yi-An Huang Announces Staff Appointments and Changes to Organizational Reporting Structure
Cambridge City Manager Yi-An Huang announced this week the appointment of Owen O’Riordan as the Deputy City Manager and Chief Operating Officer for the City. City Manager Huang also announced two additional appointments. First, Acting Commissioner Kathy Watkins has been appointed as the permanent Commissioner of Public Works. Second, Rebecca Fuentes will serve in the new position of Deputy Chief Operating Officer.
City of Cambridge Announces Increased Investment and Launch of 10th Participatory Budgeting Process
Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process that empowers community members to help decide how to spend part of a public budget. The City will allocate a record-high $2 million for this year’s process, which doubles the previous budget of $1 million. The PB outreach team will be collecting ideas from the Cambridge community through direct outreach in public spaces and at public events Sept. 11-Oct. 9, 2023.

City of Cambridge Return to Phase III, Step 1 as of Monday, February 8
The City of Cambridge announced that it is extending its rollback to a modified Phase II, Step 2 of the Commonwealth’s Reopening Massachusetts Plan for one week and will be returning to Phase III, Step 1 effective on Monday, February 8 at 12:00 a.m.
City of Cambridge Amends Temporary Emergency Restrictions on Public Meetings and Events
The City of Cambridge announced that all City-sponsored community events, events permitted for the use of City parks, or other City-sponsored public gatherings will be cancelled through October 26, 2020, or postponed to a later date. All prior approvals for events or gatherings are revoked. The City Manager’s Office is collaborating with the City’s COVID-19 Expert Advisory Panel, the Commissioner of Public Health, and the Cambridge Public Health Department to evaluate and determine what Halloween activities will be allowed in the City. Further guidance on Halloween activities in the City to be announced the week of October 12.
