City of Cambridge Partnership with Local Restaurants Provides Over 70,000 Meals to Homeless Residents
The City of Cambridge announced that it is extending its successful program for feeding homeless residents with meals provided by local food establishments through December 31, 2020. In March, the City launched an innovative project to contract with local restaurants to provide food to the City’s homeless community during the COVID-19 public health crisis. To date, over 70,000 meals have been provided and more than 2,800 meals are now being delivered each week to shelters across the City.
City of Cambridge Urges Residents to Wear Face Coverings When Leaving Their Home
In keeping with the recommendation of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Cambridge Public Health Department, the City of Cambridge today is strongly recommending that residents wear face coverings anytime they are outside of their home, especially in public settings in which physical distancing measures (ensuring 6 feet of space or more from others) are difficult to maintain. Those areas include grocery stores and pharmacies.
City of Cambridge Closures and Service Information for Patriots' Day Holiday Monday April 20
In observance of the Patriots’ Day holiday on Monday, April 20, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed, and payments will not be required at City of Cambridge parking meters and pay stations.
Curbside collection of trash, recycling, food waste, and yard waste will be suspended on the holiday and one day behind for the remainder of the week. There will be no street cleaning on the Patriots’ Day holiday. Streets that would normally be cleaned on April 20 (third Monday of the month) will instead be cleaned on Wednesday, April 29.
