Liane Brandon’s photographs of the historic International Women’s Day March of 1970 and the Boston Women’s March of 2017 will be on exhibit. The photographs of the International Women's March are of great historical impact and are, additionally, beautiful works of art in and of themselves. Phillis Wheatley Day Celebration (Main)
Please join the Library in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the publication of Phillis Wheatley's poems with a poetry reading and workshop. Organized by the poet Artress Bethany White—the co-editor of Wheatley at 250: Black Women Poets Re-imagine the Verse of Phillis Wheatley Peters—this event will open with an African drumming prelude, followed by a presentation on Wheatley's life and work as well as a reading by contemporary poets inspired by Wheatley and collected in Wheatley at 250, and concluding with a short writing exercise designed to engage the audience with Wheatley's poems.
Income-Eligible Bluebikes Membership
The City of Cambridge and Bluebikes offer discounted bike share memberships to income-eligible individuals aged 16+ who participate in qualifying public assistance programs OR who meet income guidelines (up to 400% of the federal poverty line), and who can't access the SNAP self-enrollment process.
Stretch Energy Code 2023
on January 23, 2023, the City 01 Cambridge adopted the commonwealth 01 Massachusetts's new Municipal Opt-in Specialized Stretch Energy Code, ioining the communities 01 Brookline and Watertown. The code, which goes into ellect in Cambridge on July 1, 2023, is to support the City's Net zero goals.
Apply for a Park Permit
A park permit is required for any non-athletic events in City parks or public areas and must be obtained through The Department Public Works. If you are looking to reserve an athletic field or use of Danehy Park please call the Recreation Department at (617) 349-6238.
Fostering Neighborhood Vitality & Open Spaces
The last two years have highlighted the importance of access to outdoor open space. In FY22, the City launched the Our Parks, Our Plan process to develop an action plan for the City’s open space network, applying an equity lens to criteria that include park access and climate resilience.
8th Annual Cambridge Safer Homes, Safer Community: Gift Cards for Guns Day to Take Place Saturday, June 10th
This public health and public safety event will once again provide residents with an opportunity to anonymously and safely dispose of their unwanted firearms and, in turn, reduce the risk of suicide, potential for an accidental discharge, or wrongdoing in a home or on our city streets.
2024 Memorial Day Observance Events: Grave Flags May 25, Maritime Military Members Ceremony May 25, and Memorial Day Observance Ceremony May 27
The City of Cambridge Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS) invites the public to attend three Memorial Day Weekend Observance Events, including two events on May 25, Grave Decoration Day and an observance for maritime military members lost due to maritime battles, and the Memorial Day Observance event on May 27.
2025 Mt Auburn Street Closures
Due to structural concerns at 221 Mount Auburn Street (Riverview Condominium Building), the City of Cambridge will close segments of Mount Auburn Street and Sparks Street starting Saturday, July 19. Multiple detours and traffic changes will be in place to maintain the closure, which may last through the end of 2025.
