This summer, more than 500 Cambridge pre-teens, middle schoolers, and teens explored new interests and skills, made lasting connections with peers, and experienced joy through summer programs and internships offered through Cambridge Youth Programs (CYP), a division of the Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP).

The Housed In Cambridge online guide was developed to help residents navigate Cambridge housing and service providers, and the resources they offer. The information is organized around six key themes: affordable housing, emergency housing, housing rights, legal and mediation services, safe & healthy homes, and financial assistance.

The Cambridge Promise Pilot will allow eligible students enrolled at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) and supported by the City’s College Success Initiative (CSI) to receive a “last dollar plus scholarship,” which includes free tuition and fees for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The Baker-Polito Administration announced plans to increase access to at home COVID-19 test kits for residents across the Commonwealth. The Administration has secured 2.1 million iHealth Labs over-the-counter (OTC) at-home rapid antigen tests that will be delivered to 102 towns with the highest percentage of families below the poverty level. These free tests will be available for distribution to the public by each municipality, with an emphasis on increasing access for individuals and families who are facing financial hardship.

The Baker-Polito Administration set a goal of vaccinating approximately four million people in the Commonwealth. According to the CDC’s vaccine data, 3.9 million people in Massachusetts have been fully or partially vaccinated as of today. Another 180,000 people are scheduled to get their first dose in the next 7 days.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow announced today that over twenty-two years after a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an unidentified man who entered her bedroom in the middle of the night, an investigative breakthrough has resulted in the identification and arrest of Roger W. Reddick, Jr., 41, of Cambridge. He will be arraigned today on three counts of Rape of a Child with Force in the Cambridge District Court.
