Join Gretchen Sisson, the author of Relinquished: The Politics of Adoption and the Privilege of American Motherhood (a finalist for the 2025 Book Critics Circle Award for nonfiction) in conversation with Cameron Russell, the author of How to Make Herself Agreeable to Everyone. Gretchen Sisson is a research sociologist at Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco, where she studies abortion and adoption in the United States. Her research was cited in the Supreme Court's dissent for Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, and has been covered in the Washington Post, TIME Magazine, The Nation, NPR, New York Magazine, VOX, Mother Jones, and many other outlets. Join us for a fun and interactive storytime featuring Nicolette Nordin Heavey! A renowned folk storyteller, Nicolette invites audiences to participate in creating and sharing stories together. Polls are open 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. All vote-by-mail ballots (except overseas absentee ballots) must arrive at the Election Commission office by 8 p.m. to be counted.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Namwali Serpell—professor of English at Harvard University and acclaimed author of The Old Drift and The Furrows—for a discussion of her highly anticipated new book, On Morrison, an extraordinary assessment of Toi Morrison. She will be joined in conversation by Tracy K. Smith—the Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory at Harvard University, former Poet Laureate of the United States, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author of the poetry collection Life on Mars. Registration is required to participate in this event.

Young people ages 10 to 14 who love to write are welcome to share their ideas and writing. There will be time for share-outs/workshopping, as well as group or solo writing. Snacks are provided! This week we will be joined by guest author Kate McGovern. If you are attending for the first time, registration is helpful, but not required.
