Here’s your chance to try an instrument in a judgment-free zone that encourages exploration and excitement! After an introduction to the instruments, participants get a chance to bow a violin, blow a horn or tap out a rhythm on a drum. Recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Cambridge Public Library.

A municipal property needs assessment and planning study for developable properties owned by the City of Cambridge in and around Central Square. The study will identify how the City can best leverage our properties to support municipal services and advance City priorities.

Sanders—data scientist and affiliate at the Berkman-Klein Center—for a discussion of their new book Rewiring Democracy: How AI Will Transform Our Politics, Government, and Citizenship. The Harvard School of Dental Medicine’s Students for Smiles Club and the Cambridge Public Library are hosting a free community event on oral health. Attendees will learn how to brush and floss the right way through a short talk and hands-on practice. The program will also share simple tips for preventing common dental problems and explain when to see a dentist. A free oral hygiene kit and local dental care resources will be available for everyone. Registration required.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Zach Adams—Birder, writer, and conservationist—for a discussion of his debut field guide, Birds of New England, which includes stunning photos, maps, and nuanced information on how to locate and identify each unique bird. A Central Square Roundtable was hosted last week in the Sullivan Chamber at Cambridge City Hall to update the City Council and interested members of the community on the City of Cambridge’s ongoing investments, commitments, and dedicated programming in the Central Square area.
