The City of Cambridge’s HomeBridge program recently celebrated a major milestone with its 100th home purchase, helping a local family achieve their dream of homeownership. HomeBridge provides financial assistance to eligible moderate- and middle-income buyers, enabling them to purchase homes on the open market while ensuring long-term affordability through housing restrictions. By creating new, permanently affordable homeownership opportunities across the city, the program helps families stay in Cambridge despite rising housing costs.

Lisa Peterson, Deputy City Manager, and Chair of the Community Preservation Act Committee (CPAC) opened the meeting. She explained that eligible projects must fall into one of three categories: historic preservation, open space, and affordable housing.

The Cambridge Community Safety Department (CSD) has announced that four local organizations have been awarded grant funding from the City of Cambridge in support of violence prevention programs and/or services.

Get to know Kate Thurman, Deputy Director of the Cambridge Commission for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD) and Assistant Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator for the City of Cambridge. To achieve the goals of its Net Zero Action Plan and to encourage buildings subject to BEUDO to take steps to significantly reduce their energy use, the City conducted research, qualitative analysis, and stakeholder engagement to inform the development of a voluntary, comprehensive retrofit program.

Young people ages 10 to 14 who love to write are welcome to share their ideas and writing. There will be time for share-outs/workshopping, as well as group or solo writing. Snacks are provided! This week we will be joined by guest author Patrick Joyce, author of Back in the USSR and Strawberry Fields. If you are attending for the first time, registration is helpful, but not required.
