Summer Reading: A Closer Look at the Forbes Pigment Collection (Harvard Art Museums)
Join Conservation Coordinator Alison Cariens for a closer look at pigments in the famed Forbes Pigment Collection at the Harvard Art Museums. This event will take place at the Harvard Art Museums. Registration is required but does not guarantee entry. By registering here, you are joining the pool of interested patrons. From this pool, eight names will be drawn randomly. All registrants, whether selected to attend or not, will be notified of their status one week in advance. Approved participants will be provided with location details prior to the tour.

Cambridge Seeking Residents to Host Events for Meet Your Neighbor Day
Residents and community members can organize an event anytime between September 14 and 22, though Sunday, September 15 is the official event day. We are hoping community members will plan events (e.g. cookout, block party, service project, etc.) that can bring together neighbors — in a way that works for them! Did you know that the City of Cambridge offers $300 awards and free Play Streets kits to support neighborhood block parties?
Service Information for Indigenous Peoples' Day Holiday October 10.
In observance of the Indigenous Peoples' Day holiday on Monday, October 10, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed. Curbside collection will be one day behind schedule for the week of October 10. Street cleaning will also be suspended on the holiday and will occur in advance on Thursday, September 29 for streets that would normally be swept on the second Monday of the month.
Hand Embroidery (Central Square)
Hand Embroidery will cover an assortment of basic embroidery stitches that can be used to embellish your clothing and hide (or highlight!) holes and stains! Leave class with a sampler of embroidery stitches you can refer back to, along with knowledge of tools, materials, and techniques for stitching up embroidered designs. Suitable for beginners with little or no embroidery experience, or those who want a refresher on the basics.
