Expect traffic impacts due to event-related road closures between Wednesday, April 17, and Sunday, April 21.

Through the Hampshire Street Safety Improvement Project, the City will add separated bike lanes to Hampshire Street between Inman Square and Broadway, creating a more comfortable biking connection between Inman Square and the Port/Kendall Square. We will also make improvements to existing crosswalks and changes to parking and loading.

Due to high demand at the November 10 vaccination clinic, and in order to ensure those who received their first dose can receive their second dose on December 1, walk-in COVID-19 vaccine and flu shots will not be available at the December 1 clinic.

In Massachusetts, the “Omicron surge” peaked in early January, a few weeks earlier than had been predicted. Based on wastewater samples collected from Cambridge, Boston, and surrounding communities, the peak of Omicron infections occurred on January 5.

Since Friday, October 2, seven residents of a Cambridge skilled nursing facility have tested positive for COVID-19. Five of the seven individuals are current residents of the facility; the other two individuals were discharged from the facility prior to testing positive and no longer reside in Cambridge. In addition, one facility employee who does not reside in Cambridge has tested positive for COVID-19.

Join the Council on Aging and Community Development Department this spring for leisurely group rides and bike skills workshops. These opportunities are offered through the Healthy Aging and Cycling series and are open to Cambridge residents ages 60 and older.
