Home Energy Assistance Program
Serving both the cities of Cambridge and Somerville, the Home Energy Assistance Program assists low-income households with winter heating costs incurred between November 1 and April 30.
CPL Presents: Alejandro Varela (Main/Virtual)
Join the Cambridge Public Library in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by welcoming Alejandro Varela, the author of three books of fiction, including The Town of Babylon, which was nominated for a National Book Award, and Middle Spoon, published just this September. Middle Spoon, which Publisher's Weekly called a "refreshingly candid tale of modern love," follows a married middle-aged gay man as he struggles to move on from a break-up with his boyfriend. After reading from his work, Varela will sit in conversation with Ursula Villarreal-Moura, the author of Like Happiness. An audience Q&A and book signing will follow.

Baker-Polito Administration Announces Plans for Continued Reopening
The Baker-Polito Administration announced that Massachusetts would advance to Step 2 of Phase III of the state’s reopening plan on Monday, March 1, and also announced its plan to transition to Step 1 of Phase IV on Monday, March 22. With public health metrics continuing to trend in a positive direction, including drops in average daily COVID cases and hospitalizations, and vaccination rates continuing to increase, the Administration is taking steps to continue to reopen the Commonwealth’s economy.
COVID-19 Cases Surpass 1,000 in Cambridge
The Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) reported that the number of known COVID-19 infections among Cambridge residents surpassed 1,000 on June 1, and that nearly 100 residents have died from the disease.
