You are invited to learn about the City's Affordable Rental and Homeownership Programs at an information session presented by the Housing Division of the Community Development Department

The Affordable Housing Trust has worked to shape housing programs and policies, fund the purchase of residential buildings and development sites for affordable housing developments, and provide funding that preserves and creates affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families in Cambridge. 

There are a series of affordable housing developments underway across the city. See some of the highlights.

Just-A Start Corporation (JAS) purchased the property of a former church and three surrounding buildings in the Wellington/ Harrington neighborhood, converting them into 32 units of affordable rental housing.

Overall, in FY24, the City is dedicating more than $60 million from a variety of sources to address affordable housing and homelessness. The fiscal year 2023 resulted in a number of key accomplishments.

Just A Start (JAS) is planning to create new affordable rental housing on an existing JAS-controlled site located at 243 Broadway in the Port neighborhood. Known as Broadway Park, the site is currently an existing parking lot and will be developed in conjunction with another new JAS project, 37 Brookline Street, as a scattered-site affordable rental housing project. The new housing at both Broadway Park and 37 Brookline Street will be built to Passive House standards, ensuring maximum energy efficiency.

The Office of the Housing Liaison (OHL) and the Multi-Service Center (MSC) play key roles in addressing housing rights, eviction prevention, and homelessness.

There are a number of affordable housing services, special events, and cost-assistance programs available throughout the City.
