State law requires that all dogs over 6 months have a current dog license. The dog license period in Cambridge runs from April 1 to March 31.

Through this program, Electrify Cambridge will provide no-cost advising by technical specialists on all measures that can electrify a home or residential building. Those measures include heat pumps, solar panels, weatherization, water heaters, induction stoves, electric vehicle chargers, and more. Electrify Cambridge specialists will also help residents tap into all available state and federal incentives.

The City of Cambridge urges residents planning to celebrate Halloween to follow the guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and to engage in only lower or moderate risk activities to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19. The Cambridge Water Department (CWD) would like to inform the Cambridge community about the latest water drought status. In mid-January, the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) elevated the Cambridge and Northeast region drought level status to Level 2 (Significant Drought). All nonessential outdoor water use is currently prohibited.

The Cambridge License Commission is responsible for issuing numerous licenses/permits and enforcing rules, regulations, local ordinances and state laws. It also houses the Pole and Conduit Commission and enforces the Noise Ordinance.

Under a Level 2 (Significant Drought), all nonessential outdoor water uses remain banned, except the watering of ornamentals and flower gardens with drip irrigation. Hand-held hose or watering cans may be permitted.
