Stop by before the holiday weekend to pick up a tiny art kit. Paint your own miniature masterpiece with a watercolor set, wooden easel and two-inch canvas. If you're playing Summer Bingo, use this kit to complete the square: create something inspired by a book. For all ages, while supplies last. Celebrate National Moth Week in style! Step 1: Drop by the Collins Branch to make a moth mask with guidance and costume advice from Cambridge Wildlife Arts. Step 2: Debut your mask on the red carpet at the second annual Cambridge Moth Ball on Wednesday, July 23 from 7:30-10 p.m at the Fresh Pond Reservation's Kingsley Park. Learn all about moths and their role in the ecosystem, participate in "mothing," and take photographs of moths. Costumes encouraged for children & adults!

The climate is changing, and we're all here on the planet together. Join us for a monthly community gathering and discussion of a variety of books about climate change. We will share thoughts, resources, and occasionally host special guests in a welcoming small-group environment. For our October meeting, we will discuss H is for Hope by Elizabeth Kolbert. In January this book group will meet both in person at the Collins Branch and on Zoom in a hybrid format. Please register in advance. People of all ages who enjoy children's books can read and discuss together. Food will be provided. This month we will be reading and discussing Pocket Bear by Katherine Applegate. Please pick up a copy of the book beforehand at the O'Neill Branch Library (prior to January 5) or at the Boudreau or Collins Branch Libraries. You can also request a copy to be sent to another location, or read a digital version of the book by going to our catalog.

Take home a tiny blossom kit and enjoy ice-cream (while supplies last). You can also register for Summer Reading, pick up a bingo board and learn more about special events happening across branches all summer long. The Department of Public Works, Community Gardens, and Office of Sustainability will join us to celebrate summer and the natural world.
