Join Aaron Spelker, an accessibility technology trainer for the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI) for a presentation about the organization’s technology services.

Learn the basics of beaded jewelry making and the difference between semi-precious stones and precious stones. Participants will keep all pieces they make. Space is limited to 10 participants. Led by Zangar Freeman.

In this hands-on session, you’ll dive into traditional techniques using hand-carved blocks as well as modern methods with laser engraving. You’ll sketch and carve a design on a rubber linocut block and then print it onto paper. There will also be a demo on how Laser Cutters can be used to engrave print blocks You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.

Join Amy Meltzer as we discuss the following: The current biodiversity crisis The shared evolutionary history among native birds, insects and plants How your support of those relationships are necessary for the species' survival How your garden can support biodiversity How you can help our Cambridge public plantings thrive This is a hybrid event. Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Ellen Pinsky and Michael Slevin, co-editors of the highly praised essay collection Driven to Write: 45 Writers on the Motives and Mysteries of their Craft. They will be joined for a panel discussion with several of the book's contributors including, Robert Pinsky, award-winning author of over twenty volumes of poetry, Stephen Greenblatt, Harvard professor and author of Dark Renaissance, Ha Jin, the William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor in English and Creative Writing at Boston University, and Sigrid Nunez, National Book Award-winning author of The Friend. This panel will be moderated by Rachel Dillon, poet and the managing editor of Ploughshares. Registration is required.
