Overall, in FY24, the City is dedicating more than $60 million from a variety of sources to address affordable housing and homelessness. The fiscal year 2023 resulted in a number of key accomplishments.

Join the Council on Aging for a weekly Spanish Lessons class designed to help you explore a new language and culture in a fun and supportive environment. The class is open to Cambridge residents age 60 and older.

Join us for a guided 60-minute art tour featuring public artwork in East Cambridge and learn about how Cambridge Arts commissions and maintains art for public enjoyment. We will visit three public artworks, and two sidewalk poems. Meet at Centanni Park between the Multicultural Arts Center and the Middlesex South Registry of Deeds. This event is part of our Time Out for Public Art series in collaboration with Cambridge Arts. In October, these will be 60-minute art tours where we visit multiple sites as a group. Registration is required.

Join us for a guided 60-minute tour of the Universal Design Playground, an inclusive play area featuring public artworks designed with accessibility and sensory engagement in mind: Paintings by Dominic Killiany, Sensory Hilltop by Mitch Ryerson, and Pipe Dreams by NuVu Studio. We will meet at the Universal Design Playground, 66 Field St. entrance. This event is part of our Time Out for Public Art series in collaboration with Cambridge Arts. Join the Council on Aging and Community Development Department this spring for leisurely group rides and bike skills workshops. These opportunities are offered through the Healthy Aging and Cycling series and are open to Cambridge residents ages 60 and older.

On Thursday, October 21, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) approved the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 booster vaccines for eligible groups. The CDC had previously recommended boosters for eligible individuals who received the Pfizer vaccine series. In addition, individuals will now be able to choose which type of booster shot to get regardless of which vaccine series they have already received.
