An update from City Manager Yi-An Huang on some of the City's major areas of work over the last six months

Beginning Tuesday, September 2, the War Memorial Recreation Center (1640 Cambridge St.) will reopen for programming and public swim for the fall season. This year, we are excited to offer free Family Swim through the month of September.

Did you know you can vote for a winner in the Massachusetts Children's Book Award each year? Join us the 1st Wednesday of each month as we read and discuss some of the MCBA nominated books. Cast your vote for your favorite nominated title, right here at the library. This program is for kids in 4th, 5th and 6th grade (or equivalent ages). Registration is required. At this September 9 virtual public meeting, the DCR project team will present the Memorial Drive Phase III construction details and impacts.

In accordance with the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit, Cambridge is developing a Phosphorus Control Plan to address stormwater runoff to the Charles River. As part of the City’s stormwater program, Cambridge is working to reduce its current phosphorus loads to the Charles River through a combination of non-structural controls, like street cleaning, and structural controls, like tree box filters and rain gardens. Phase 1 of this plan must achieve the first 25% of the City’s phosphorus load reduction requirement by June 30, 2028.
