This month's book: An Oral History of Atlantis: Stories by Ed Park Reading Interests: The group concentrates on fiction and narrative nonfiction. Some past selections include: Colored Television by Danzy Senna, Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters, and Beautiful Country: A Memoir by Qian Julie Wang. How to get the print book: Copies of the print book are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library Q&A Desk at 449 Broadway during service hours and a staff member can help you check out a copy. Monthly meeting for the Conservation Commission.

The Cambridge Commission on the Status of Women has released a new Mapping Feminist Cambridge story map. This story focused on Central Square from 1970s-1990s.

Garage, Flammables or Garage with Flammables Licenses are issued by the Cambridge License Commission and governed by Massachusetts General Law ch. 148 sec. 13 & 56. It takes approximately four to six weeks for the application to be processed, and if approved, the license to be issued.

The Detail/Off-Duty Employment Office is responsible for assigning off-duty officers to construction sites throughout the City to ensure motor vehicle and pedestrian safety.

Special STEAM programs offered throughout the year

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Monday, September 5, and payments will not be required at parking meters and parking meter pay stations. The offices at Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue, will also be closed on the holiday, however, the cemetery gates will be open from 7 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

The City of Cambridge Free Seed Library is now open in the Public Works building at 147 Hampshire Street. All are welcome to take seed packets.

The Green Street Garage will close to hourly parkers on Tuesday, September 6, while the City’s contractor, Contractor Specialists Inc., carries out maintenance and repair work.
