Let’s talk about your favorite comics! Bring in a graphic novel and share your thoughts on why it’s great – or even why it’s terrible. Each month will feature a different reading challenge – you get to pick any comic that you think matches the theme! Celebrate comics with snacks, books, and maybe even the chance to make one yourself! This month’s theme, bring in your favorite comic and tell us why you love it. Snacks are provided. Join us for a Board Game Brunch! We have a range of classic, strategy, and party games including Bananagrams, Chess, Ticket to Ride, Azul, and more! Feel free to bring a board game to play with others. Coffee and light refreshments provided. Registration helpful.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Theaster Gates—award-winning artist, professor at the University of Chicago, and Director of Artists Initiatives at the Lunder Institute for American Art at Colby College Museum of Art—and Henry Louis Gates Jr.—Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and Director of the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University, and an Emmy, Du Pont, and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker, literary scholar, and institution builder—for a discussion of their new book Another View: The Vibrant World of Contemporary Black Artists, co-edited by Henry Louis Gates, Jr., featuring Theaster Gates. May Selection: The World Central Kitchen Cookbook: feeding humanity, feeding hope Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! Try a recipe and bring your results or thoughts to share and discuss with other cooks. All experience levels welcome. No need to bring a dish to join. Books will be available for pick up at the Boudreau and Collins Branches during library hours. This event will take place indoors at the Collins Branch (64 Aberdeen Ave). Residents who are not eligible for regular unemployment benefits can now apply online for the new Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program. The new federal program provides up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits to those who are unable to work because of a COVID-19-related reason but are not eligible for regular or extended unemployment benefits. This includes self-employed workers, independent contractors, gig economy workers, and those with limited work history.

October selection: An Indigenous People's History of United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz. Join us to discuss a selection of fiction and nonfiction titles for adults. Print copies are available to pick up at Collins Branch during library hours.

Get more practice with Google Drive! Learn some tips and tricks to organize your files and images. Google Drive is your online file storage that is connected to your Gmail account. A Gmail (Google) account is required for the class. Please remember your Gmail and password, you will need them to sign in and practice during the class. Laptops will be provided for the class.
