Want to learn how to create custom clothing and other fiber projects with embroidered text? In this workshop, you’ll use a digital embroidery machine to stitch personalized designs and take home a unique piece. This class is for those with prior sewing machine experience. If you're new to sewing, we recommend taking our Sewing 101 workshop first as we will not spend time reviewing the basic mechanics of sewing. Registration is prioritized for patrons who will directly benefit from interpretation in American Sign Language. Please email thehive@cambridgema.gov to register. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop. Please arrive on time. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will not be able to join the class.

Do you sometimes struggle to find the information you need from websites? In this class, you’ll learn helpful tips and tricks to search more effectively, use filters and sorting tools, and explore other features. Join us to craft homemade gifts this holiday season. Learn to make one-of-a-kind beads from recycled strips of paper. Once the beads are constructed, thread them into a piece of jewelry for yourself or someone else. Recommended for children ages 6-12 with a caregiver. Mass Audubon will lead an exploration around the library in search of plants and animals, while using scientific tools like binoculars and magnifying lenses to get a closer look. We'll record what we find in our nature journals and play nature games. All materials will be provided. No registration required. This program is recommended for children 4-8 and their caregivers. We’ll focus especially on how sauces bring everything together, so bowls are flavorful, filling, and easy to repeat at home. No special diet is required, just practical, delicious food.

In this class, Cambridge Public Library staff will teach you how to look for books, films, and other resources available in the catalog. We will review how to perform basic and advanced searches, learn how to log in to your account with your library card, and better understand all of the formats and locations available in the catalog. Attendees should be comfortable using the computer and navigating the Internet independently, but no prior knowledge of the catalog is needed. Registration is required.
