This month's book is Dogtown by Katherine Applegate and Gennifer Choldenko. In Dogtown, a shelter for unwanted canine and robot dogs, an extraordinary bond develops between Chance, a longing three-legged dog, Metalhead, an empathetic robot, and Mouse, their friendly ally, as they strive to find forever homes. Young people ages 10 to 14 who love to write are welcome to share their ideas and writing. There will be time for share-outs/workshopping, as well as group or solo writing. Snacks are provided! This week we will be joined by guest author Patrick Joyce, author of Back in the USSR and Strawberry Fields. If you are attending for the first time, registration is helpful, but not required.

The following description is for the program that will be on Saturday: Join friends at the O'Neill Branch to build, build, BUILD your idea of a neighborhood and a community! Let your imagination run wild with LEGOs, Magna-Tiles and other building toys. We will also have books about neighborhoods and a collaborative art project about our community. For children ages 5 and up. Children under age 7 must be accompanied by a caregiver. LEGO pieces are choking hazards for young children.

Children and families can join us for an outdoor story time and short walk at Alewife Brook Reservation. Parking is available at Alewife MBTA station or limited on-street parking on Cambridgepark Drive. No registration is required. Youth ages 10+ are welcome to join us for a single session of cooperative storytelling and role-play table-top game Dungeons & Dragons. Youth who have never played are encouraged to Try it!, youth with DnD experience are welcome. No registration required.
