The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout the weekend due to scheduled community events, including the East End House Summer Block Party and the Found Boston Vintage Market.

Class will be held at Saint James Church, 1991 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02140 due to repairs to the O'Neill Branch Library. Join us for an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Class. This class will be taught at an intermediate level. No testing is needed. Join us for an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Conversation Practice. This conversation group is for those with an intermediate or high level of English language skill. Ages 12-18. Craft a felt food, flag, or something else that is special to Hispanic Heritage! Felt, paper and pencil, needle and thread, and wet glue and hot glue will be provided. Join us for songs, stories and rhymes followed by open play. Meet and connect with your neighbors and other members of the community as you all play together! Join us for an hour of songs, stories, and social meet-up in Mandarin Chinese with JingJing and Chelsea, two local mothers and educators. This fun and interactive session brings families together in a warm, welcoming environment. This event is for children and their caregivers. In the first half, listen to engaging stories and sing lively songs. In the second half, children will do an activity, and everyone will have an opportunity to socialize.

To mark the 250th anniversaries of the American Revolution and the founding of the United States, a coalition of local non-profits and government agencies will present Washington in American Memory, a seven-part speaker series. Explore the 19th century origins of preservation at Mount Vernon, current conservation work, and the estate’s future, featuring: Doug Bradburn, President and CEO of George Washington’s Mount Vernon and co-founder and editor of the book series, Early American Histories Andrea Sahin, Vice Regent for Massachusetts to the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association

Install new water fountain/bottle-fillers at up to 10 parks that lack drinking water fixtures. This will ensure that more residents can enjoy free, clean, drinking water at their local park, no matter which neighborhood they call home.

Overall Cambridge Arts and the City are distributing more than $300,000 to 60 artists, cultural organizations and grant reviewers via grants and stipends this year through three funding opportunities offered by Cambridge Arts: Organizational Investment Grants, Art for Social Justice Grants, and Local Cultural Council Project Grants.

Join Conservation Coordinator Alison Cariens for a closer look at pigments in the famed Forbes Pigment Collection at the Harvard Art Museums. This event will take place at the Harvard Art Museums. Registration is required but does not guarantee entry. By registering here, you are joining the pool of interested patrons. From this pool, eight names will be drawn randomly. All registrants, whether selected to attend or not, will be notified of their status one week in advance. Approved participants will be provided with location details prior to the tour.
