The City of Cambridge and Cambridge Public Schools are delighted to announce that applications for the Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP) for the 2025-2026 school year are now being accepted through Thursday, October 31, 2024. The CPP application is available on https://earlychildhoodcambridge.org/cpp/.

Join us for a walk at Fresh Pond as we explore the wonderful world of bugs! This program is open to all ages, from adults to children and their caregivers. Registration is required. We will meet at the Cambridge Water Department parking lot at the beginning of the event. E-cargo bikes help City staff maintain our urban canopy. During droughts and heat waves, E-cargo bikes transport equipment across Cambridge to water trees. Purchasing three new E-cargo bikes would expand the City’s ‘water-by-bike’ program.

The Cambridge STEAM Initiative partners with the Cambridge Public Schools’ Math Department on initiatives that focus on math as a civil right. As part of this collaboration, the STEAM Initiative has hosted screenings of Counted Out, a documentary exploring how inequitable access to math literacy impacts us.

The City of Cambridge Parks Department has scheduled the following maintenance and repairs to the hardcourt surfaces at Riverside Press Park, Hoyt Field and Dana Park.

This school vacation week, join musician Evan Haller of Music at the Blissful for an interactive music class. Through singing, movement and playful engagement, every child is invited to participate at their own level. Music at the Blissful presents music classes that not only entertain young minds but support early childhood development to grow mentally, physically and emotionally. Recommended for children ages birth-7 with their caregivers.

DVS Director Cynthia Harris will emcee the observance event to commemorate the lives of our military members along with Cambridge Mayor E. Denise Simmons, Vice Mayor Marc McGovern, and City Councilor Ayesha M. Wilson, Co-Chair of the Human Services and Veterans Committee.
